This year 19 bowlers a one legged Manager and 7 partners ventured to Corowa to participate in Section 13 of the RSL Edinburgh Shield competition.

It was a very successful weekend with wonderful accommodation, great food, good bowling and enjoyable company.
Overall we won 4 of our 5 games placing us 2nd.
The winner Bendigo/Eaglehawk won the Section with 5 wins plus 100 (approx) shots up but only beat us by 7 shots and we won 2 rinks.
Results were:
vs Noble Park              WIN  55 to 49
vs Phillip Island           WIN  46 to 37
vs Sorrento/Portsea     WIN  44 to 43 (Peter ‘Gobbler’ Watson last bowl of the game Monty 1 shot down overall and 1 down at the head drove kitty into ditch to make 2 giving us a 1 shot win)
vs Bendigo/Eaglehawk  Loss  35 to 42
vs Corowa Services      WIN  39 to 38 (once again Peter ‘Gobbler’ Watson very last bowl of the game 1 shot down overall but holding 1 at the head knocked another Monty bowl in for 2 and a 1 shot win).

Games summary –  (ALSO checkout the Photo Gallery)

With just 16 players, everybody had to play every game.  Nearly all the games were close, and coming into the last ends the games were up for grabs.  Unfortunately, we couldn’t reproduce last year’s success, and ended the carnival with just one win.  We had a great time as usual (at the expense of the quality of bowls?????) with the Friday BBQ setting up the weekend beautifully.

Montmorency v Pascoe Vale Loss
Montmorency v Morwell Win
Montmorency v Cobram / Barooga Loss
Montmorency v Essendon Loss
Montmorency v Epping RSL Loss

Everybody had a great weekend, with great company.

The best rink was Jeff Lander, Bruce Bell, Shirley Crapper, and Gary Watson, who won all five of their games.
