Our Story

OUR CLUB

The Montmorency Bowling Club celebrated its 50th anniversary during the 2012-13 season.

In the Beginning

A dedicated group of residents from Montmorency, Lower Plenty, Eltham and Greensborough met in September 1962, with a goal in mind – to form a bowling club which would provide recreation, pleasure and competition to the people in this area.
Although our Club was founded in 1962, it was 1966 before the final realisation of the dream of this hardworking band of ladies and gentlemen came true.

The Growing Years:50th Anniversary Bowling Day

The present clubhouse, which has been renovated and refurbished, the True Draw surface (laid in 2012) and Greengauge surface (laid in 2002 and replaced in 2006), the upgraded lighting, the outdoor entertainment area, and upgraded shelters are not only a monument to that band of people, but also to our current and progressive hard-working members.

The Christmas Day floods in 2011 caused damage to the greens, but significant work (including the complete replacement of one green) has the greens playing better than ever.
