COVID-19 – MONTY’S POSITION

FROM THE BOARD OF MANAGEMENT, MONTMORENCY BOWLING CLUB

Ladies and Gents,

As per recent advice from Bowls Victoria, I have to advise that in response to health risks associated with coronavirus (COVID 19), the Board has decided to cancel all organised bowls activities at the club for the foreseeable future. This applies to Saturday, Monday and Thursday (Day and Night) Social Bowls activities, including the Footy Day planned for this coming Saturday, Men’s President’s Day (March 28th), Easter Tournament (Saturday April 11th and Monday April 13th) and Club championship matches are indefinitely postponed.

In addition, Volunteers Day (April 7th) is cancelled and Ladies Section Annual Meeting (April 14th) is postponed. Happy Hour cannot continue until further notice either.

Members are welcome to practise on the greens, but if in company with others, pay attention to the recommended distance factor and other health requirements now well published in the media. Note that hand-sanitisers are now in place inside the club near the front and rear doors, but still keep up hand washing, especially before food consumption.

In supporting the advice of BV the Board is particularly cognisant of the age distribution of our members – most over 70 years of age and therefore in a highly susceptible age bracket.

The Board will review the situation on a regular basis, noting advice from official bodies.

Yours sincerely,

Phil Stirling
Board Secretary
